Our Mission and Legacy

Le Rucher Ministries is dedicated to equipping individuals to make a significant impact in a world in need. With over 150 years of combined cross-cultural experience, our team has served long-term in countries like Rwanda, Liberia, and Sudan, and has engaged in short-term missions across Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia. We are committed to being a visible and viable ministry, offering a wide range of biblically-based resources to the missions community.

Who we are

We are a community of colleagues where the presence of Jesus is practiced and experienced. We endeavor to be a visable and viable ministry that can offer a broad range of biblically-based resources to the missions community.

Together, the team at Le Rucher represents more than 150 years of cross-cultural experience:

  • Long term in countries such as Rwanda, Liberia and Sudan.
  • Short-term (less than 1 year) in many other African nations, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia.
  • And ministry trips (less than 1 month) to countless other countries.

Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and authoritative word revealing that Jesus Christ is God’s Son; that man is created in God’s image; that He created us to have eternal life through Jesus Christ; that although all men have sinned and come short of God’s glory, God has made salvation possible through the death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ; that repentance, faith, love and obedience are fitting responses to God’s initiative of grace towards us; that God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, and that the Holy Spirit’s power is demonstrated in and through us for the accomplishment of Christ’s last commandment, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

Our History

For many years, Erik and Jeltje Spruyt had a dream to care for missionary personnel. They witnessed missionaries going into places in the world where no one really wanted to go where they came face-to-face with poverty, violence and situations very hard to digest, emotionally and spiritually.
The establishment of Le Rucher in 1994 was the Spruyt’s dream come true, a place where missionaries could be refreshed in their calling in God and remain effective to serve in those difficult places.

From the first year with only 1 person debriefed, we now have debriefed more than 2,029 people at Le Rucher and at least 2,731 more through our staff members or accredited debriefers on the field. We have trained hundreds of people in a Biblical model of debriefing and critical incident skills and have seen debriefing become a well-known term.

Over 9 million people (mostly in Africa) are served annually through the ethnic reconciliation and community development projects we are involved with.
